Osborne in for Charity Cup victory

MARPLE seniors played for the Charity Cup and in division one Chris Osborne was the main man with 67, two less than Ken Nash and in division two Tony Hurst led in with 74.

Raymond McPhee topped a Midweek Stableford at Marple with 36 points from Simon Tunnicliff­e 35 and Dillon McPhee 34.

Marple ladies were in medal action with Sarah Beard first past the post with 72 from Janet Healy 74 and Sue Chapman 76.

Stockport ladies played a Macmillan Stableford in two divisions which were topped by Val Garrett 30 and Chris Barber 31.

Medal action for Stockport’s men saw Gary Morgan lead in with 64 from Joe Lau 66 and Tim Green and Matthew Atkinson, both 67.

A Seniors Stableford at Avro as won by the legendary Vic Tarr with 33 points from John Langan 30 and Barry Wilson 29.

Peter Roles was the proud winner of the Greenall Whitley Trophy after posting a neat medal score of 70, one less than Phil Normanton and Ian White.

At last after a record nine postponeme­nts in their winter programme the excellent Manchester Alliance field at Hazel Grove were able to enjoy sunny and warm conditions and produce a string of good scores.

The annual competitio­n at Hazel Grove features the Leo Feeney Trophy for the best score by a club pair in recognitio­n of a former Alliance legend

It was won by Pike Fold pro am duo Grant Hamerton and Ged Muldowney who posted 45 points after a cpo with Stand’s Rob Batchelor and Keith Dingley.
