Smart moves from Supporters Cooperative
THE weekend just past gave more evidence, if indeed evidence is needed, of just how rich Stockport County history is, and how unendingly resourceful supporters of the Club are in honouring that history. Saturday saw County fans in the Bungalow on Hardcastle Road for the latest SCAN Presentations.
This time around County’s unique scheme celebrating any player who ever played for County, saw all time County favourite Sean Connelly (now an official working for the Welsh FA) there in person to receive his SCAN Certificate.
Presentations were also made to the relatives of Smart Arridge, who made 63 appearances for County between 1901 and 1902. Connelly was amazed and delighted to see Smart’s relatives produce one of the player’s Welsh caps that dated back to the 19th century. George Perrins and Harry Catterick’s relatives also received SCAN Certificates.
That was a great start, but Saturday was not done and neither were County supporters who then headed off to the Spinning Top for the Supporters Cooperatives popular ‘County Quiz.’
Organised by Matthew White, and MC’d by the one and only Nick Lee, the event was another cracker, raising £123 for the Guardian Account and another £35 for charity Stroke Information.
