Care homes joined in Open Day celebrations
BOROUGH Care’s 11 Stockport care homes held a wide range of activities as part of Care Home Open Day.
Now in its sixth year, Care Home Open Day is a national event to encourage people to visit care homes in their community, see the work that goes on and get involved in activities.
Dr Mark Ward, CEO at Borough Care, said: “Care Home Open Day is a great way for us to showcase the fantastic work that goes on in our homes and the excellent services we offer.
“It also enables us to celebrate the different people, cultures and relationships in our area and show local communities that care homes are happy, friendly places to be.
“Some people still have misconceptions about care homes and we were keen to dispel any myths by inviting people to their local care home to see first-hand what’s on offer.”
As Care Home Open Day coincided with the Queen’s birthday, Bryn Haven in Brinnington celebrated with a vintage afternoon tea party.
The royal theme continued at Offerton’s Lisburne Court, which was decked out in red, white and blue for a buffet-style party and a performance by Borough Care’s Intergenerational Choir.
Reinbek in Davenport, Wellcroft in Gatley and Meadway Court in Bramhall all hosted garden parties. At Marbury House in Heaton Chapel, people could get close to nature with a visit from a local animal therapy group.
Silverdale in Bredbury marked the day with a street party, Bruce Lodge in Offerton held a carnival and Shepley House in Hazel Grove hosted a community friendship party.
Bamford Close in Cale Green marked the occasion with a performance from a local band, while Cawood House in Brinnington celebrated with music and dancing throughout the day.
