Free parking on offer in BID to boost town centre

PART of Stockport’s Business Improvement District’s remit is to address issues that have been raised that may be impacting on the numbers of people coming in to enjoy the amenities within the town centre.

The BID’s Totally Stockport team are working on ways to attract more shoppers and visitors more regularly which is why we are introducing Totally Free Parking, making it easier for people to park.

No more worries about finding the right change or rushing back after two hours in case your ticket has expired.

Anyone can apply for a Totally Free Parking Pass that is valid from June 1, 2018 and allows car parking for free on the sixth Floor of Heaton Lane Car Park.

Cars will need to park in designated spaces only and for a maximum period of four hours on any one day.

We have 75 spaces available which will, of course, be on a first-comefirst-served basis.

This is a great way to attract more shoppers and visitors into the heart of Stockport town centre, with easy access to all the great shops, visitor attractions, restaurants and bars but it is important to note that Totally Free Parking is only available on the sixth floor of Heaton Lane Car Park, Stockport, between the hours of 6am and 6pm.

To get your Totally Free Parking pass, apply online at www.totallyfreeparking. co.uk. Your Totally Free Parking Pass is not transferable to any other town centre car park where normal rates will apply. To qualify for free parking, your Totally Free Parking Pass must be clearly displayed in your front windscreen but should be placed so as not to cause any obstruction to the driver’s view of other road users or to the road itself.

Your first Totally Free Parking Pass is valid from date of receipt to August 31, 2018.

We are hoping to continue to offer Totally Free Parking after August 31; we will be notify passholders by email if there is an opportunity to renew their Totally Free Car Parking Pass.

Normal parking enforcement measures will be applied if a Totally Free Parking Pass is not clearly displayed; if you park for free anywhere other than on the sixth floor of Heaton Lane Car Park in Stockport; if your car is parked for a period longer than four hours and outside of the designated time zone of 6am to 6pm.

We would like as many people as possible to benefit from Totally Free Parking so free parking is available for up to four hours only and cars must not return within the same day.

Totally Free Parking signage will provide direction to the allotted car parking spaces and the stairwell leading to the fourth floor will provide additional directions.
