Summer fun as charity to hold family events

- ALICE IRVING

ALOCAL charity is holding three special fundraising events across Greater Manchester this summer, to help them support local people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

St Ann’s Hospice – which cares for and supports thousands of local people each year at its sites in Heald Green, Little Hulton and the Neil Cliffe Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital – is holding three familyfriendly summer events to kick off the holidays in style.

Everyone is welcome at the events, which promise to be a real feast of family fun – with cakes and crafts, facepainting and tombolas and everything else in between.

The first event of the summer will be a fundraising afternoon tea at the hospice’s Neil Cliffe Centre in Wythenshawe Hospital and will be held on June 19 from 2pm to 4pm.

There will also be two summer fairs held at the hospice’s Heald Green and Little Hulton sites – the Little Hulton one on June 24 from noon to 3pm and the Heald Green one on July 22, also from noon to 3pm.

Highlights at the two fairs will include a barbeque, face painting, tombolas, raffles, stalls and refreshments – and much more.

Eamonn O’Neal, chief executive of St Ann’s, said: “At St Ann’s we’ve been a part of our local communities for almost half a century and the summer fairs are always a highlight of our annual fundraising calendar.

“It’s always so great to meet local people and to see everyone having such a great time whilst raising money for our patients and their families. We can’t wait to see everyone again this year.”

Entry to the fairs is just £1, with accompanied children free. Entry to the Neil Cliffe Centre afternoon tea is free. »●*For more information on the summer fairs, or other forthcoming St Ann’s events or activities, call 0161 498 3631 or visit the website at www.sah. org.uk.
