Ittig on top in tussle of Thomas’s

THOMAS was the ‘in’ name at Mellor and Townscliff­e as their juniors competed for the prestigiou­s Glengarth Trophy.

Leading in with 66 was Thomas Ittig with a superb 66 from Thomas Russell 71 and Thomas Langshaw 72.

A Midweek Stableford at Avro was led in with 35 points by Derek Ellershaw, four more than Stephen Callaghan and Neil Flood.

Tony Mullin posted an impressive 38 points to with the Avro Seniors Charity Stableford from Derek Jones 36 and Bob Holt 35.

Bramall Park’s men played for the Stansfield Salver and it needed a cpo on 41 points to see Chris Darwent claim the coveted trophy from Chris Wright.

It was also tight in a midweek Stableford at Park with Peter Monkhouse winning a cpo on 37 points from Scott Cowan.

Medal action for Park’s ladies had Donna Macintosh winning division one after a cpo on 77 with Judy Read.

Dvision two honours went to Jo Lindon with 74 and in division three Cath Hughes led in with 84.

Stableford action for Bramhall’s men had David Crossgrove topping division one with 38 points from Dan Britton 37 and Ian King 36.

Top of division two was Colin Bryant after a cpo on 37 with Mike Whelan.

Bramhall ladies played a four division medal and in division one Colette Bryant led in with 75, four less than Vicki Snape.

In division two Frances Gell was first past the post with 79 from Linda McKenzie 81.

Division three honours went to Lady Captain Sandra Smith with 74 and in division four Helen Ronnie had a best of the day 70.

Hazel Grove’s men played for the Anniversar­y Cup and in division one Scott Elwes led in with 70 from Craig Johnson 71.

It was also close in division two with Michael Wilkinson posting 71 to beat Craig Kendall by a stroke.

Division three saw Nicholas Rawlinson lead in with 70 to beat Ian Tallents by a shot.

Grove’s ladies were in medal mode with the divisions topped by Kathryn Glazier 69, Marilyn Webley 75 and Barbara Allen 79.

Houldswort­h’s men played for the Welly Harrison Trophy and it was won by Chris Fawley with his 68 taking him three shots clear of David Finley, Geoff Wallwork and Colin Jones.

Houldswort­h ladies played for the ‘major’ Lady Vice Captain’s medal and it was won by Editha Sellars after a cpo on 76 with Patricia Bennett.

Brian Valentine was in top form in a May medal at Marple cruising to victory in division one with 63, four less than John Tennant.

In division two it was much closer as a cpo on 69 was won by Daniel Newton from Chris Barber and Gregg Baines.

It was also close for Marple ladies as they played a bogey for the Victory Trophy with Sue Garnett winning a cpo on +3 from Wendy Hibbert.

A singles Stableford for Stockport ladies had division one won by Natasha Brown with 32 points, two more than Jill Sanders and Chris Barber.

Division two honours were taken by Irene Hegarty with her 34-point haul leaving her seven clear of Linda Gregory.

A singles Stableford for Stockport’s men was led in by Tom Clarke with 39 points, two more than Shakeel Chaudry, John Bancroft, Alan Thomson and Matthew Hampson

The familiar name of David Hamilton topped a singles Stableford at Reddish Vale as he posted 38 points to finish ahead of Richard Bradshaw 37 and Barry Cocksey and club legend Andy Hart, both 35.
