Terror rampage gang fire shots at house door

THUGS brandishin­g a chainsaw, crowbars, a sledgehamm­er and a gun damaged homes during a late-night spree of terror.

Armed police were scrambled after shots were fired at the front door of a house in north Reddish on Sunday night. Another two properties in Burnage were also damaged.

Detectives are investigat­ing the incidents, which all happened within 15 minutes and are thought to be linked. Nobody was hurt and patrols have been increased in the two areas.

Following the Burnage incidents officers were called to reports shots had been fired at a house on Broadfield Grove in north Reddish. A group of men smashed the front windows of the house before fleeing in a black car.

Armed police were scrambled after shots were fired at the front door of a house in north Reddish, Stockport, on Sunday night.

Another two properties in Burnage were damaged.

Patrols have been increased in the two suburbs.

Officers were first called to a house on Arbor Drive in Burnage just after 11pm. It is believed men armed with a chainsaw and crowbars smashed the doors and windows. They then fled in a black car, possibly an Audi.

Around five minutes later, police were called after residents said shots had been fired at a house on Crossley Road in Burnage. A group of men, thought to be armed with a gun and sledgehamm­er, smashed the front windows of the house before fleeing in a black car.

There is no evidence to suggest shots were fired, police said.

Around 10 minutes later, officers were called to reports shots had been fired at a house on Broadfield Grove in north Reddish.

Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Keeley, from GMP’s Stockport borough, said all three incidents are thought to be linked.

“I appreciate this chain of events will undoubtedl­y cause concern, but we believe all of these incidents are linked and we have a dedicated team of officers working tirelessly on the investigat­ion,” he said.

“You will see increased patrols across these areas for you and your safety, so please approach officers with any concerns or queries you may have.

“If you were in the relevant areas around the times of these incidents and saw anyone behaving suspicious­ly, please call police as a matter of urgency.”
