Search for market operator

STOCKPORT Council is looking for a specialist market operator to help revive one of the jewels in the town centre crown.

The individual or organisation would manage Stockport Market and help it grow over the next five years.

It is anticipated that an appointment will be made by autumn this year.

The council is also investing around £7m in the Market Place and the surrounding area of Stockport Old Town.

Councillor Kate Butler, executive member for the economy, said: “Our vision is for Stockport Market Place to be a vibrant and popular place for people to visit every day of the week.

“As well as restaurant openings and regular events, Stockport Market has a vital role to play in achieving this vision, but we need to make sure it continues to grow and develop for the future.

“We want to find specialist market operators who can use their expertise to work with the businesses in the market and help make it successful for the future.”
