Dance team are closer to their World Cup dream

-

DANCERS who have been selected to represent England at this year’s Dance World Cup are getting closer to their dream.

Thanks to Stockport council, businesses and people in the area, the Cheshire Theatre School dancers who practise in Houldsworth Mill, Reddish, have raised nearly £5,000 towards travel and accommodation costs.

Fundraising events have included a special screening at the Light Cinema, cake sales, bag packing and a sponsored hula hoop event.

Vickie Goodwin from Cheshire Theatre School said: “Being chosen to represent England at the Dance World Cup is a huge honour and the fundraising we have done so far will definitely help to cover some of the costs.

“I want to say a massive thank you to local businesses and local people who have already shown their support.”

On Saturday, June 16, from 4pm, the dance school will be putting on a Showcase at Norris Bank Primary School on Green Lane.

The junior and senior competition team will be performing their solos, duets, trios and groups and there will be stalls including a chocolate and bottle tombola and ‘name the teddy’ competition.

Tickets cost £3, email thecheshiretheatreschool@live.co.uk to book.
