DEMOLISH MERSEYWAY?

WITH the disappearance of M&S, is the future of some, or all of the few remaining stores in Merseyway in doubt? Isn’t it time to admit the shopping centre itself should be demolished to make way for housing?

Many of the remaining smaller shops might be more usefully relocated to the currently abandoned ‘village,’ St Peters Gate, Hillgate and the Marketplace. With such changes in place, the current large bus station could be pulled down to provide space for a public park after a smaller bus stop is built at, or near Higher Hillgate.
