An exhibition on volunteering
REDDISH creative arts charity Arc is holding an art exhibition on volunteering to mark Volunteers’ Week.
During the past year, 73 people have volunteered with Arc and there are currently 62 active volunteers. The charitable organisation benefits from 2,500 hours of volunteer time each year.
Until June 22 the gallery is showing an exhibition called We Make A Life By What We Give, showcasing the work of volunteers past and present.
Jacqui Wood, Arc’s artistic director, said: “Arc began life back in 1995.
“It is impossible to know for sure how many volunteers have given their time to us over the years, but there are hundreds of people out there who have volunteered with us during that time.
“Between them they have contributed thousands (maybe tens of thousands) of hours of time.
“Many of our volunteers have come from within our own arts programmes – and for some it has been a huge journey from vulnerability to increased confidence and opportunity.”
