Roads are to close for resurfacing
TWO weeks of road resurfacing is underway in Edgeley.
Stockport Council began the work on Edgeley Road and Mercian Way, near the junction with Dale Street, on Wednesday.
Weather permitting it is expected the resurfacing will be finished by June 20.
Work will take place overnight between 6.30pm and 5am, when two-way temporary traffic lights will be used as well as road closures on Castle Street and Edgeley Road.
A council spokesman said: “These measures are in place to minimise disruption to residents and businesses and to allow safe working operations to take place.
“Access to properties and businesses in the working area will be maintained where possible. However it may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses.
“Signed diversions will be in operation.”
The diversion route for access to Dale Street from Edgeley Road is Mercian Way/Shaw Heath/Gilmore Street/Range Road/ Adswood Road/Stockholm Road or Edgeley Road/ Bird Hall Lane/Adswood Road and Stockholm Road.
Vehicles wishing to gain access to or from Castle Street onto Edgeley Road will be directed to use Caroline Street/Lomas Street/Worrall Street and Mercian Way.
