Gannon’s men against Lord’s boys

-

STOCKPORT County have confirmed the remaining fixtures in their pre-season schedule.

The Hatters will make the short journey to Stockport Town FC on Tuesday July 10 as Jim Gannon comes up against Alan Lord at Stockport Sports Village, Woodley, 8pm kick-off.

Admission will be £5 (£3 concessions).

Last month County announced a new partnership with the Lions, including playing opportunities for the club’s development squad and those leaving the Academy.

Alan Lord now combines his role as Director of Youth Development at County with the part-time role as head of the management team at Stockport Town FC. Lord said: “This is an exciting project for both clubs, who will offer time, energy and commitment to make it a success.”

Stockport Town FC reached the final of the Cheshire Senior Cup last season, losing 3-0 to Nantwich Town, to miss out on their first ever piece of silverware since being established in February 2014. Town finished tenth in the Hallmark Security League Division One.

On Saturday July 14, County will face Buxton, who finished ninth last season in the Evo-Stik Premier League.

As the Buck’s Silverlands ground is out of commission until the end of July, the fixture will be played at Ewen Fields, the home of Hyde United, with a 3pm kick-off.

This summer Buxton are installing a new synthetic pitch at Silverlands, as well as classrooms and changing facilities in order to host an Academy in partnership with Warrington & Vale Royal College.

On Tuesday July 24, Jim Gannon will take his side down the M56 to face Warrington Town with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Warrington narrowly missed out on promotion to the National League North last season, finishing third, just behind Ashton United by virtue of goal difference.

But Paul Carden’s Yellows ultimately missed out on promotion, losing to Grantham Town in the Play Off semi-final.
