Are you in historic picture?

A COLLECTION of photos that were taken by Stockport students 50 years ago are to go on public display.

In the summer of 1968, then youngsters William Smith and Jack Wrigley took more than 230 photographs in and around Stockport centre.

A selection of these will form an exhibition at Stockport Art Gallery, Wellington Road South, from July 21 to September 6. Included will be a picture taken of children at St Thomas’s School, taken in July 1968.

Jack is hoping there will be people who recognise themselves in the snaps.

He said: “These images now provide a fascinating view of 1960s Stockport, of lost landmarks, of familiar landmarks and of course, the people of Stockport.”
