Iris wins landmark naming comp
STOCKPORT Homes Group gave Year 3 pupils the responsibility of naming landmarks at its new Carrington Road development.
Youngsters at Cale Green Primary School came up with names for the new road and apartment block, based on the theme of famous Stockport references.
Eight-year-old Iris Bailey was the winner of the naming competition, choosing ‘Blossoms House’ for the apartment block, after Stockport band Blossoms and ‘Strawberry Avenue’ for the road name after the famous Stockport recording studio.
Ken Lee, chair of the Viaduct Board, which runs the development, said: “It’s important to us that local residents live in homes and neighbourhoods that they are proud of and we are delighted that the names for this new development have been chosen by a pupil who lives locally.
“This is a great way to celebrate Stockport and its many achievements.”
