Don’t give any money to those who are begging

ANUMBER of people are currently very actively begging in Stockport.

I know that giving people money in the street may feel like a very selfless, kind thing to do to help someone in need, but the reality is somewhat different.

I regularly walk around the town centre and speak to the people who are begging and offer them the support of The Wellspring.

The Wellspring has a food service every single day of the year, along with the food people can access a dedicated staff team who provide thousands of pieces of support work per year, including lots of work around housing, health, benefits, mental health, addiction, education, employment and lots of other issues.

The biggest reason that

A friendly word of motivation and telling people about The Wellspring is far more meaningful than giving people money in the street.

The Wellspring is hosting its first ever charity golf day on Friday, September 7, at New Mills Golf Club.

We are currently looking for teams of four to take part. Tickets are £130 per fourball.

We are also looking for local businesses to donate a charity raffle or auction prize.
