With division one leaders Dom Doyle having their game postponed it gave the chasing pack a chance to close the gap and Swinton showed their ambitions with a tight 2-1 derby win at Irlam Tigers.

Hooley Bridge Celtic continued their bright start to the season with a comfortabl­e 4-1 win over Didsbury.

Plenty of goals in the other two games with Parrs Wood Celtic on fire with a 9-0 win at Bury Ams and AFC Oldham were also too hot to handle as they beat Stoconians 7-3.

Division two new boys Urmston Town are joint top of the table with a 3-1 win at Whalley Range seconds in a game of excellent quality from both sides that drew them level with Newton who were in cup action.

On the heels of the top two are Manchester Polonia after a 4-1 win over South Manchester seconds.

It was tight in the other games in the division with Mellor seconds scoring the only goal of their game with Chorltonia­ns seconds and the points were shared by Bedians and Spurley Hey in a 3-3 deadlock and Santos drew 1-1 hosting Rochdalian­s seconds.

Signol Athletic are dominating division three with their latest 4-2 win over Dukinfield Athletic who had Ash Grundy netting their two consolatio­n goals.

Signol have an impressive five-point lead as their main promotion rivals dropped points.

Chadderton Park suffered their first defeat of the season going down 3-2 at Stoconians and Aldermere were held to a 3-3 draw at Village Manchester who picked up their first point of the season.

Heaton Mersey also drew 2-2 with Milton seconds with Warren Dawkins and Anthony Pugh netting for Mersey with John Rogerson and Mike Nicholson on target to earn Milton a point.

The only winners in division A were Trafford United seconds at high-flying Rochdale Galaxy by 2-1.

The closeness of the division saw all of the other games end at 2-2 led by Moston Brook seconds in a feisty affair at Unicorn Athletic.

There were also some close and exciting games in division B with the only exception being a 6-3 win for Stoconians thirds against Staly Lions.
