Key men return to the Moor fold

-

TERENCE MCGEEHAN scoring burst by Kirkby Lonsdale in the final quarter took the gloss of an impressive performance, although it was the visitors who started the better side.

Moor had lots of pressure and territory but the Lakes men scored the two opening tries of the game to open up a ten-point lead.

But the hosts settled and a try by talisman Asa Bottomley, converted by the returning Will Green opened the floodgates a little.

Bottomley quickly added another after a great run by Dylan Starkie. Trevor Danson-Chappell got in on the act, scoring under the posts, Will Green happily adding the extras.

Moor were in control now and Cian Keane opened up his seasonal account to extend the lead before Bottomley completed his first half hat-trick, bringing his seasonal tally to twelve.

The management utilised their squad fully with a plethora of changes, one of which, the return of skipper Nick Tenney after a five-week injury lay off, was a massive boost.

And it didn’t take him long to get involved, helping supply James Bellis for another try.

And not long after that he helped himself to a try which he converted himself.

But with a huge lead, now twenty-eight points, Moor relieved the pressure and Kirby took advantage.

They dragged themselves back into proceedings with a converted try after some monumental pressure.

They also got rewarded with two penalty tries, the referee twice deeming challenges by Andrew Badrock and Fred McIlwraith as dangerously high, two yellow cards to boot.

Suddenly with five minutes left on the clock, the game was back in the melting pot but Moor held out fairly comfortably to extend their recent run of victories.
