Community Tickets taken up enthusiastically

- COUNTY SUPPORTERS COOPERATIVE COLUMN IAN BROWN

THERE was another example of the County family in action when it was revealed that nearly one thousand tickets have been allocated to junior football clubs and local community groups to allow under 16s and their families to watch a game at Edgeley Park free of charge via the Club’s ‘Community Ticket Initiative’.

This is a supporter driven initiative, backed by the Stockport County Supporters Co-operative, Help the Hatters and numerous individual sponsors who have helped raise £1,850 (so far) to purchase tickets that are distributed clubs and other sporting organisations in the Borough. To date, the following clubs and organisations have requested tickets; Adswood United, Ashton on Mersey u10s, Bramhall North, Chapel Town, Cheadle & Gatley u7s, u8s, Cheadle Royal Juniors, Chinley Juniors, Juno u9s, New Mills Juniors u7s, u8s, u9s, u10s, u11s, Poynton JFC, Pure Insight, Queensgate u8s, Reddish Villa u7s, Rose Hill u8s, Stockport Cosmos, Stockport Dynamoes, Stockport Vikings and Together Trust.

The aim of the Community Ticket Initiative is to encourage youngsters to support their local team and help build Stockport County’s fan base for the future.

This scheme is separate from the club’s ‘Healthy Living’ campaign, which is promoted in local primary schools, but the intention is very much to complement and build upon this valuable work.

If your organisation would like to benefit from this initiative or you would like to donate towards this scheme, please contact Simon Dawson at the club – simon.dawson@ stockportcounty.com.

Elsewhere the Cooperative will hold another ‘County Quiz’ on the 8th December after the Chester game, 5.30 for 6pm start at the Spinning Top (prior to the County Legends Night).

And before that game we will be supporting the Wellspring’s ‘Rucksack Project,’ taking donated items of clothing etc at the Cheadle End Cabin from 1.30 to 2.40 on 8 December .
