Parrs Wood on march in Cup

DESPITE some heavy rain on the previous day it was virtually a full programme of games with three Manchester Amateur Cup ties and a busy league programme.

Parrs Wood Celtic have been scoring goals for fun in recent weeks and they kept up their momentum to brush aside North Walkden 8-1 and march into the next round of the Manchester Amateur Cup.

Joining them are Irlam Tigers who kept local bragging rights as they saw off their second team 3-0.

Division one leaders Dom Doyle were in hot form as they walloped Stoconians 10-0 while Chorltonia­ns stayed within three points with a 3-0 win over Swinton.

Chorlts defended well to keep a clean sheet and at the other end some clinical finishing produced winning strikes from Andy Power, Johnny Trodden and Aaron Rodger.

Goals galore for Oldham Vics who won 10-3 at Hooley Bridge Celtic.

It was much closer at AFC Oldham who beat Didsbury 2-1 and Moston Brook shared four goals with Bury Ams.

It’s tight at the top of division two as the top three teams all won to stay within two points of each other.

In division three Dukinfield Athletic stay on top of the pile with an efficient 3-0 win at Milton seconds as Signol Athletic stay in second spot and increased their goal difference with a big win over Heaton Mersey.
