LV lead the way with release of fixtures

-

THE LV Bowling league have again been the first to release its fixtures ahead of the 2019 season.

With Christmas now out of the way the season is once again on the horizon. Stockport will be represented in the top flight by Nursery BC (Heaton Norris) and Victoria BC (Offerton).

Although the travelling is increased for teams from Stockport, the prize money and standard of play is better than local leagues.

Cheadle Conservatives were relegated to the second division after struggling for much of last season.

The third division includes two Stockport teams in the shape of Grange and Nursery Second team.

The opening round of fixtures in the top flight see both Victoria and Nursery face tricky tests on the road.

The Vic travel to the notorious Quarry Bank green to face a side who have strengthened over the winter.

Nursery meanwhile head to Sale Excelsior B a side who always hold there own in the top flight.

The side all the teams will again have to beat is Lloyds “A” who romped away with the league title last season.

The Stockport bowling leagues are always slower to release its fixtures with meetings due soon.

The final Love Lane winter pairs before Christmas was won by Ben Phillips and Ben Gloag who defeated Wigan’s Billy Speed and Danny Miller in the final.

Last week Stalybridge visitors Dave Betts and Steve Newton staved off Dave Stott and Dave Rogerson by a single chalks.

Action continues every Sunday with all players welcome and asked to call Jamie on 07922 789909 before hand.
