Two hurt in Range Rover crash

-

AT least two people have been seriously injured after a Range Rover crashed into the side of a shop.

Emergency services were called to Adswood Road in Cheadle at 5.30pm on Monday, February 11, to reports of a grey Range Rover Velar leaving the carriageway and crashing into a building at the side of the road.

Adswood Road was closed in both directions from Councillor Lane to Larkhill Road while emergency services worked at the scene.

Police said at least two people suffered serious injuries.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service were called to the scene and helped police to remove one of the casualties from the vehicle.

Pictures from the scene showed a car flipped on its side and extensive damage to the CFS carpet shop.

Richard Gottfried, who lives nearby, heard a loud bang before rushing outside to help.

He said: “I rushed out to see if there was anything I could do, all the residents came out to help and people were climbing on the car trying to help.”

“I saw one person limping, being helped by the police. In the last two and a half years we’ve had five crashes on this crossroads.

“It’s hit a building, taken out a wall, smashed into the side of a building, taken out a hedge and a bollard.

“The sound was massive, it shook the house.”

A spokesman for GMFRS said crews from Stockport and Cheadle were called at 5.30pm to reports of a vehicle on its side.

They said the vehicle hit a tree and collided with a building.

NWAS took one man to Stepping Hill Hospital and remained at the scene.
