Man dies in horror crash
AMAN died after a horror crash which saw a road closed for several hours.
The smash happened on Bramhall Lane South in Bramhall at around 9.30am on Thursday, October 31.
Police said a black Zenos collided with a grey Volkswagen Touareg after passing a black Audi A5 that was turning right into Carwood Road.
The badly-damaged black Zenos E10 convertible and the 4x4 were towed away in the aftermath of the incident.
The fire service confirmed crews attended and rescued a man from a vehicle.
The ambulance service also confirmed they were called to assist with a male casualty.
Police later confirmed that the Zenos driver, a 45-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The Touareg driver, a 41-year-old woman, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The dead man’s loved ones are understood to be too distraught to talk about the tragedy.
Sergeant Andrew Page, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic accident where a man has sadly lost his life.
“Specialist officers are with his family and supporting them through this horrific time.
“This happened at a busy time of the day, so I would like to encourage anyone who may have any information that can assist our enquiries to come forward.
“We’re particularly keen to speak to any witnesses with dash cam footage who saw either of the cars in the lead up to the collision.
“If you have any information that could help – please get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
The road was closed in both directions, between Bridge Lane and Grasmere Crescent, for several hours while police dealt with the aftermath and carried out enquiries.
