Weather wipes out Nomads

- DES HINKS

CHEADLE Heath Nomads had another frustrating weekend when Saturday’s game at FC Oswestry fell victim of the inclement weather after, incredibly, heavy overnight snow rendered the pitch unplayable!

The Claret & Blues are next in action this Saturday when Eccleshall visit the Proseal Stadium. It will be another stern test for Andy Gray’s men against an inform side who have moved quietly into the promotion places following Saturday’s victory over St Martin’s.

Nomads, though, go into the game on the back of five unbeaten league games and having bolstered their squad with two midweek signings.

Former Bury and Hyde striker Dougie Pringle arrived in SK8, along with Ben Woods, the one-time Mossley and 1874 winger, who signed from local rivals West Didsbury & Chorlton.

With Stockport County travelling to Barnet this weekend, Nomads would like to remind all Hatters’ season ticket holders not following the team to London that they can watch their game against Eccleshall for just £3.

The Proseal Stadium is a welcoming environment to watch semi-pro football, and the special relationship with County has helped boost Nomads’ attendances this season.

After seven league games the current average of 84 spectators is almost 80% higher than at this stage last year, and Nomads would like to thank all County fans, and the increasing number of locals, for their tremendous support.

Kick-off time on Saturday is 3pm.

Nomads would also thank everyone who attended their recent Bonfire Night at the Proseal Stadium. Around 600 people ensured the annual event was another huge success, raising much-needed funds to enable the local club to continue to develop and compete in the national football pyramid.
