STAYING POSITIVE IN THE PANDEMIC!

-

It is a scary world we live in right now, with uncertainty and no cure,

this pandemic has got a hold of us, that we can’t learn from a book or brochure.

Suddenly the roles we play in life are tested and overnight changed,

the structured life yesterday we led, has all had to be rearranged.

There have been no instructions on how to handle, what seems like a mammoth task,

the feelings of panic and insecurity settle, but we all wear a positive mask.

For those of you with children, you’re now a teacher with no training at all,

having to plan school days and fill their time, and not let your own emotions fall.

So many of us have lost our jobs or had working weeks cut by half,

and are now facing a future we feel, has a bumpy and difficult path.

Anxiety, stress and fear are now common, even for the strongest of us folk,

what was a clear bright future ahead, has become covered with thick black smoke.

It is times like these that test us all, will you rise or fall to the ground?

It is time for learning and self-discovery, and to look at the positives that are around.

The little things that you gave a miss as they were never important before,

might now be your little saviours, that you learn to love and adore.

Taking time out to have a chat, to bake or start a past-time,

learning to adapt to a new life, whilst trying to find some downtime.

Many are getting overwhelmed, at the outcome we cannot control,

don’t think too far ahead, it is about setting a daily goal. We now can’t see to the future, so don’t look past the next 24 hours,

it is time to live in the present and release your own inner powers.

whatever power that is, it doesn’t have to be big or be the best,

it could be the simplest of things, like controlling not to get stressed.

Every family has a different struggle right now, and we can’t judge one to the next,

we are all in this together, so we should learn to understand and respect.

Respect that we are all trying to live, in a world that has suddenly changed,

With a virus that’s taking over us, making us all feel more estranged.

No matter where in life you are, it’s time to be by each other’s side,

In a virtual capacity, as we are unable to collide.

But what we can do day to day, is be there for family and friends

By phone, or skype or virtual hug, until this pandemic ends!

Next year I hope we all look back, on this times that tested us all,

That made us stronger to face problems in life, no matter how big or how small.
