‘Weapon’ used to threaten delivery driver

POLICE are investigat­ing after a takeaway driver was threatened with a weapon in Stockport.

Officers were called to a report of a food delivery driver being threatened with the ‘weapon’ on Saturday afternoon.

GMP said the offenders tried to steal food from the driver, who was not hurt during the robbery at 3pm on Saturday.

One person has been taken into custody, but officers are appealing for further informatio­n following the incident on Pendennis Road in Heaton Chapel.

They want to speak to two people who were apparently filming the incident.

Anyone with informatio­n is being asked to come forward.

In a post on the GMP Stockport page last night, officers said: “We are appealing for informatio­n in relation to a robbery that occurred today.

“Our officers were called to Pendennis Road, Heaton Chapel, to a report of a food delivery driver being threatened with a weapon.

“On our officers arriving it was establishe­d it had happened at 3pm and suspects had attempted to try and steal food.

“Thankfully no one was hurt.

“We currently have one person in custody but we are still within our initial investigat­ion.

“We are particular­ly interested in speaking to two persons who were seen filming the incident and any other witnesses.
