Clubs divided as talks over season go on

At the time of writing there were talks with Palmer, Hinchliffe and Thomas regarding new, full time, contracts.

Then there’s a host of players, Minihan, Walker, Turnbull, Osborne, and Bell who have been offered a rolling contract until a decision on the league finishing has been made, while Darren Stephenson has been given “an opportunity” to recover from surgery.

The club seem to be being fair and at least paying players while the pandemic rolls on. Where we all fall out is with the released list.

Every season someone’s favourite player is cut seemingly without reason for me the stand out is Liam McAlinden simply for the goal he scored away at Maidenhead deserves a full season at least. Some will say the same about Frank Mulhern. There was a twitter video of some of Frank’s goals, too numerous to list in full but most memorable is of course the Dover lob from halfway and the BPA “he’s behind you” goal, very few were tap-in’s, he was an integral part in the promotion season and will be long remembered I’m sure, as will Ian Ormson, a stalwart of 12 seasons at the club.

Even Dan Cowen had his moments, remember that goal at Fylde that nearly broke the net and sent the travelling hoards into raptures? But football is fickle and it seems everyone has a sell by date and I wish them all well. Jim has a plan and I know with the money that Mark Stott has brought to the club he’ll spend it wisely.

Saturday’s YouTube game was the 6-0 drubbing of Chester, it was possibly the most complete performance of that season, with two goals from Bell and Walker plus one from Stephenson and Keane – it looked like we’d score with every attempt.

The travelling faithful had a blast especially as the home end started to empty before half-time!
