Snake boy Georgi rocks in the park

-

A GIANT snake made from 1,000 painted pebbles is growing in Vernon Park.

Georgi Wilson, seven, of Turncroft Lane, Offerton, came up with the idea, thinking it would be great to get other youngsters to add painted pebbles to help ‘STan’ grow.

David Wilson said: “It started with Stockport Rocks where children paint pebbles with pictures and hide them around parks in Stockport, when someone finds the rock they take a pic of themselves holding the rock and post it on Stockport Rocks group page on facebook then rehide the rock. It has been going on for a few years now.

“Since Covid19 came about, rather than hide the rocks, Georgi thought it would be a great idea to start Stan the Stockport Snake where people would add painted rocks to make Stan grow rather than hide them so no one touches them. He started with the tongue and head and put a poster up saying what it was about and what to do.

“Georgi adds a few rocks daily and children have been painting rocks and adding them as well.

“In fact Stan is now at 1,000 rocks strong now and still growing.

“Georgi is so proud of it.”
