Woman hospitalised after horror smash
AWOMAN is in hospital with lifechanging injuries after a late-night collision.
A white Vauxhall Astra was travelling south-east along London Road, in Hazel Grove, when it collided with a pedestrian close to the junction with Queen’s Road, police say.
The pedestrian, a 28-year-old woman, was taken to hospital where she is receiving treatment for life-changing injuries.
The driver, a man aged 20, remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was subsequently released under investigation, GMP confirmed.
The incident happened at around 9.30pm on Friday, July 24.
London Road remained closed between Chapel Street and Chester Road into the early hours of Saturday morning.
Several police vehicles and ambulances were at the scene of the collision, which happened close to a local pub.
