Pub’s all-clear after case of Covid

-

A STOCKPORT pub that temporarily closed after a customer tested positive for coronavirus has reopened.

The Moortop Pub and Kitchen closed its doors after learning that someone who had been in the pub received a positive test result for Covid-19.

Now it is opening again after being given the green light by Public Health England after fogging the entire venue and sending staff for tests, which all came back negative.

It was one of two Heaton Moor Road venues to close for a weekend earlier this month due to a customer having a positive test result.

The other, Rocksalt Bar and Cafe, also reopened after it was sanitised and staff test results all came back negative.

In a statement shared on social media, the Moortop said the case over that weekend was ‘a clear example of someone not following clear government guidelines.’

The irstatement read: “Following notification on Sunday (August 9) that a customer tested positive for Covid-19 and was in our premises on [the] Saturday, we felt it was the right thing to close for the safety of our staff and customers.

“On [the] Sunday we carried out a thorough sanitation clean including fogging of the entire premises.

“We have dealt with EHO and PHE along the way and they are happy with the results and praised the control measures in place, and have given us the green light to open.

“We are not a close contact business and have put strict Covidprocedures in place to protect our teams and customers.

“With this in mind our team are not required to self-isolate.

“However our team have been tested - following usual safety procedures and we are pleased to confirm all tests are negative.

“We have contacted Stockport council contact tracing team in relation to the case and will continue to work closely with them throughout the pandemic.

“We would like to reinforce the message that customers need to adhere to the government advice and socially distance at all times whilst on the premises.

“It is clear the majority do and anyone not doing so will be removed from the premises immediately.

“Unfortunately the current case was a clear example of someone not following clear government guidelines and in so doing threatening our business and its customers.

“We thank you for your continued support and understanding.”
