The Avro Club Championsh­ip was played over two days and it needed a cpo on 164 to see Michael Thornber beat Captain Phil Normanton and they were well ahead of Paul Pugh 175, Stephen Callaghan 179 and Ian Hallworth 180.

The Pro’s Stableford at

Reddish Vale was won by junior Cole Parkinson with 39 points keeping up his great run of results that have seen him drop his handicap from 16 to 10.

In the Vale July medal the divisions were led in by Martin Holt 68, Jeff Crewdson 67 and Brian Doglas 67 and Martin Holt had the best gross of 75.

The Wednesday Stableford at Vale saw the divisions topped by David Hamilton 39, Steve Bardsley 37 and Aaron Owens 39.

The August medal at Bramall Park had the divisions led in by David Hale 66, Ian Fenson 65 and Alistair Currie 64.

The coveted Seretary’s Kettle at Bramall Park was won by Jonathan Griffin with an aggregate of +6 from Chris Ramsdale, Mark Davies, Anselm Agwunobi and Will Hobson, all +5.

Park’s ladies were in singles Stableford action with Liz Seddon first past the post with 35 points from Julia Cruszcz 34 and Judith Nield 33.

Hazel Grove ladies played round two of the Julia Hill competitio­n and Lindsey Withers was out on her own with 69 from Kathryn Glazier 74 and Rita Patel 76.

The overall winner with an aggregate of 153 was Kathryn Glazier from Deborah Wilson 154 and Tracey Slater 158.

The President’s Prize for Grove’s men was won by Matthew Bonner with 68, one less than Jonathan Irwin and Dean Normington.

Danny McCoy showed his class in round two of the Ashcroft Cup at Houldswort­h with a winning 72 from Steven Harding 73 and Sam Lynch 74.

Danny cruised to overall victory with an aggregate of 141 from Sam Lynch 150 and Steve Henderson 162.

Houldswort­h ladies were also in `major’ action and the Centenary Trophy was won by Editha Sellars with 68 from Nikki Daniels 73 and Elizabeth Wilde 82.

Marple ladies were also in `major’ action with the Edith Parrott Trophy being won by Glenda Conway with 33 points, one more than Sarah Beard and Elaine Jones.

Marple’s men played for the Centenary Trophy and Kevin Skoberne was too hot to handle as he posted a scorching 61 to finish ahead of Angus Rae 64 and Stuart Henderson, John Deakin and Keith Sumner, all 65.

The Victory Trophy at

Stockport saw John Currie go clickety click to finish one clear of David Williams, David Schofield and Zac Smith.

Stockport ladies played over 36 holes for Mrs White’s Cup and Karen Desai led in with an aggregate of 145 from Louise Meeks 148 and Sue Brown 154.
