Colette hits target with first ace shot!

BRAMHALL Golf Club ladies star Colette Bryant, playing off a handicap of 15, won Mr. Captains Day for the Ladies with a nett 69.

The following week July 23rd Colette shot her first hole-in-one in the Ladies Stableford Competitio­n.

Colette, who has been a member of Bramhall Golf Club for eight years, took a 7 Iron on the Par 3, 137 yard, 14th hole and played the shot from right to left.

It landed about two feet from the hole and rolled into the cup.

Colette had socially distanced ‘high five’ celebratio­ns with her playing partners, Ann Taylor and Diane Symmons.

As Colette (a Scouser) said ‘ya can’t whack it, I’m made up!’

There was more top ladies golf at Mellor and Townscliff­e as the latest Ladies 18 hole Stableford Competitio­n was dominated by the Jones Family!

Mother and Club Secretary Karen Jones winning by an amazing 48 points Karen scored three birdies, 10 pars, three bogeys and a seven on the 6th to beat her daughter Cheshire County Player Lauren Jones who shot a 1 under gross 72 scoring 39 points with five birdies, 10 pars, two bogeys and a 6 on the 12th. Awesome scores! Carys Baggs was third with a good score of 37 points.

The H Wood Trophy at Avro was won at a canter by Derek Jones with his nett 63 taking him well clear of Peter Roles and Peter Walker, both 68 and Bob Collins and Captain Phil Normanton, both 69.

A Midweek medal at Bramall Park needed a cpo on 66 to take Chris Daniels clear of Andy Sharples, one less than Peter Morris.

The Subsidiary 9-hole Stableford was a family affair with Ken Cook posting 20 points, one more than Nick and Cameron Cook.

Good scoring in a Junior Stableford at Bramall Park led by Alex Heatlie with 44 points from Tom Williams and Jamie Donohue, both 43 and Ben Williams 40.

Park’s ladies played a medal and Golf Brooch qualifier and Ros Chapman topped division one after a cpo on 72 with Michelle Pretty, one less than Liz Robinson.

The other divisions were topped by Julia Chruszcz 67 and Grace

Thacker 75 with the 9-Hole Stableford winner being Pat Campbell with 18.

Bramhall ladies played a singles Stableford and top of the four divisions were Carol Coulson 37, Rosa Sheard 36, Helen Ronnie 32 and Lynn Enoch 33 with the 9-hole winner being Janet Ballard after a cpo on 15 with Susan Carter.

A Stableford at Hazel Grove needed a cpo on 41 points to take Dean Normington ahead of Ian Barwell, one more than John Tetlow.

Mark Saxon was out on his own in a Seniors Stableford at Grove with 36 points from Peter Dean 30.

A medal for Grove’s juniors was won by Cameron

Smail with 64 from Oliver Coleman 65 and Thomas McCann 66.

Grove’s ladies were in medal mode and top of the three divisions were Ruth Lupton after a cpo on 76 with Valerie Waters, Sheila Booth 69 and Louise Enderby 66.

Houldswort­h ladies played a Stableford and the clear winner with 36 points was Louise Lanigan from Editha Sellars 32.

Houldswort­h’s men played their Strokeplay semi-finals and leading in the divisions were John Dorsi after a cpo on 71 with Andrew Hurst and Chris Fawley, Paul Stafford 63 and Terry Cauchie 69.

The midweek Stableford for Marple’s men was led in by Ray Singleton with an incredible haul of 48 points, two more than Jon Sinclair.

The Marple August medal had division one topped by Jason Sullivan with 64 and in division two Anthony MacSteel also posted 64.

Marple ladies played a Bermuda Greensome and E Jones and A Porter were out on their own with 70.6 from Wendy Hibbert and P Davies 76.4.

Reddish Vale ladies played for the Past Captain’s Trophy and Julieanne Addinall led in with 33 points from Suzanne Sutherland 31.

Vale’s men played for the Frank Brown Shield and Dean Martin crooned his way to a winning 67 from Ivan Kennedy and Daniel White, both 69.

The Seniors Stableford at Vale needed a cpo on 34 points to take John Wright home from Colin Leigh.

The Trickey Trophies BB Stableford at Stockport were won by the dynamic duo of A Hussain and K Zierold after a cpo on 46 points from A Thomson and M Wharton.

The Cheshire Union is currently looking for players to represent the County in Boys’ Team matches.

These matches are played against neighbouri­ng Counties and cover three age levels: Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18.

As well as playing in team matches, we may be able to offer places in the County coaching programme, depending on age and ability.

The annual Joanne Morley Junior Challenge will be staged at Sale Golf Club on Sunday October 18.

Joanne, a former top LPGA Tour player and Solheim Cup Vice Captain has supported the competitio­n for the past 18 years and it also supports the Golf Foundation, a charity which does so much to promote Golf Club junior golf.

The current champion is Ellis Courtnell of Ringway GC and the competitio­n is open to boys and girls in the region aged under 16 years on January 1 2020.

There are many prizes on offer including rounds of golf at top venues and free lessons with top coaches.
