Old pal’s act keeps Bexy on the move

ACANCER fundraiser is attempting a huge challenge by running, walking, and basically moving anyway she can, for 24 hours on a 2.4km route around her local village of Cheadle.

The event, to raise funds and awareness of the symptoms of ovarian cancer, will start at 1pm on Saturday, June 26.

Bexy Belton, of Park View, Cheadle Heath, is taking part in the challenge due to her friend, Johannah Aynsley, who has been living with stage four ovarian cancer for the past three years.

It’s been unimaginably hard for Johanna, 41, but her strong, tenacious and fun loving nature has meant she has coped incredibly well.

Bexy, 37, felt it was now time to give her a laugh and entertain her with a ridiculous idea and raise lots of money in her honour.

Johannah was only 38 when she was diagnosed and the aim is to raise as much money as possible for Target Ovarian Cancer so they can support other women experiencing this horrendous disease and to raise awareness of the symptoms so more women are empowered to seek help and get a diagnosis early.

Eleven women die every day from ovarian cancer, and early diagnosis is key.

But four in five women cannot name bloating as one of the key symptoms of the disease.

Bexy said: “We want to have as much fun as possible whilst doing this, I will need lots of laughs to get me through the hours! Please come and support me on the day if you can.

“The event is also a chance to spread a very important message: knowing the symptoms of ovarian cancer can save lives. Money raised for Target Ovarian Cancer will help support women living with ovarian cancer, fund research into urgently needed new treatments, and help them to continue raising awareness of the disease.

“We have an online fundraising page, and would be grateful for any donations made.”
