Two held after reports of assault with iron bar

POLICE have arrested two suspects following reports that a man was attacked with an iron bar during a disturbanc­e in Stockport town centre.

The alleged attack took place at a property on Bosden Fold at 11am on Monday, June 14 .

Police were called to reports a man was being attacked with an iron bar and later arrested two men.

The suspects, aged 22 and 50, were held on suspicion of assault and interviewe­d before being ‘released under investigat­ion’.

There are no reports anyone was hurt during the incident.

Witnesses reported police and forensics experts were focusing on one property in Bosden Fold.

Police later issued a public appeal for anyone with informatio­n about the incident to get in touch.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “Police were called to Bosden Fold, Stockport, shortly after 11am on Monday 14 June to reports of a man being assaulted with an iron bar.

“One male, aged 50, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray and assault. “A second male, aged 22, was located a short time later and arrested on suspicion of assault.

“Both men have been interviewe­d and released under investigat­ion.

“The investigat­ion is ongoing to identify the man who was assaulted and obtain any relevant CCTV.”
