Bergara statue hits a chord with fans
THE Danny Bergara Statue Appeal, launched in last week’s Stockport Express, has really struck a chord with County supporters, and we can report that in just 24 hours the fund reached £4825 (9% of the Supporters Cooperative and Help the Hatters £50000 target).
There’s clearly a lot still to do, but we have been heartened by the number of people who came forward with stories about Danny and those exciting years when he was County’s manager, and we hope to be able to publish material from sculptor Hannah Stewart depicting ‘The Man From Uruguay’ at some stage, meanwhile we will keep you advised on the appeal which can be reached here: https://www. justgiving.com/ crowdfunding/ dannybergara
The above effort is the brainchild of Supporters Cooperative board member John Giles, and John was behind another initiative of ours namely the ‘Consultation Exercise’ which set out to find out what County supporters, whether Cooperative members or not, felt were the important issues to them.
A full report of the results from a survey that attracted just short of 400 responses will be released in the next week or so, but we can confirm that communications is top of most supporters list of priorities as far as the Cooperative is concerned.
Communications with the Club being number 1 priority for the majority of responders, and it was pleasing to see that the general view was that we were getting things right as far as communications were concerned especially in keeping supporters abreast of what is happening in respect of the Club, ,ourselves and them.
It was particularly pleasing therefore to reward some of our survey responders, and in this regard a 2021-22 County Season Ticket was won by Barry Normanshire, whilst 4 match tickets went to Cecelia Storey Best, Natalie Leeb, Graham Porter and Michael Shoard.
