Armed thugs beat man and trash car

THUGS armed with ‘bats or a metal bar’ descended onto a quiet street before beating a man and trashing his car.

A 39-year-old man was taken to hospital by ambulance after suffering head and arm injuries in an assault on Harrison Grove, Adswood, at around 6.20pm on Thursday, July 1.

Police say a group of three men arrived on Harrison Grove in a black Land Rover before injuring their victim and causing damage to his vehicle.

A spokespers­on for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers were called at about 6.20pm on July 1, 2021 to Harrison Grove, Adswood, Stockport, to reports a man was being assaulted.

“Officers located a 39-year-old victim who had been assaulted by three men, who arrived in a in a black Land Rover, with bats or a metal bar, and they also damaged his car.

“North West Ambulance Service also attended and the victim was taken to hospital with head and arm injuries that aren’t believed to be life threatenin­g.

“Enquiries are ongoing and there have been no arrests.”

Eyewitness­es told our sister paper the Express that police soon arrived at Harrison Grove and closed the road as they investigat­ed the attack on Thursday evening.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “There was a bit of a commotion yesterday at around 6pm. It would have been some kind of assault.

“As fast as it happened, they were gone.

“The road was closed, and police were at the bottom end and the top. There was no one here this morning (Friday).”
