COUNTY SUPPORTERS COOPERATIVE

- BY IAN BROWN

THE new board of Stockport County Supporters Cooperative, conscious of and constricted by the uncertain pandemic situation, met remotely this week and it was a lively affair with ideas aplenty.

Chair Pete Towey reported being close to agreeing a meeting date with the Club and promised a further update as soon as possible.

We were delighted to note that the Club has now started allocating tickets to Junior Clubs and Community Groups for the Community Ticket Scheme . If you would like to apply for Community Tickets on behalf of a junior football club, sports club or community group, contact Olivia Hanvey at Olivia. Hanvey@ stockportcounty.com.

The report of the Consultative Exercise undertaken last year is now to hand and we hope to shortly publish same ahead of further consideration of how we proceed with the suggestions and findings.

A major focus has been the Danny Bergara Statue Appeal which now tops £16000.

There followed a most productive discussion culminating in a raft of doable events in support of the appeal. The following were agreed upon:1. A bucket collection / Uruguay Day on Saturday 12 March at County v Notts County game. We hope to offer suitable affordable flags for the occasion.

2. We are well on arranging a ‘Pie & Peas’ evening hopefully with ex-players.

3. Several merchandising ideas were talked about so look out for some very exciting items on offer.

4. A raft of family orientated events are on the way from us!

5. Make Us An Offer. This has been a staple fund raiser thanks to our marvellous supporters and we have another belter ( a triple header this time) before the end of January!

So keep reading this column for further news or catch us every matchday on the Grassy Knoll next to the Cheadle End turnstiles.
