Stockport’s “favourite local department store” to host Jubilee celebrations and family fun day

BROADSTONE MILL SHOPPING OUTLET AND WORKER BEE MARKETS, WHO RUN REGULAR ARTISAN EVENTS ACROSS THE STOCKPORT AREA, ARE JOINING FORCES TO THROW A FREE CELEBRATION FOR THE QUEEN’S PLATINUM JUBILEE THIS SUMMER

-

STOCKPORT’S “favourite local department store” Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet is celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee in style - the usual monthly Worker Bee Artisan Market at Broadstone Mill promises to be transformed into an even bigger hive of activity than normal for the occasion.

Situated in the grounds of the iconic Victorian building and former cotton mill, on Saturday, May 28, between 11am to 3pm, there will be a whole host of fun for all the family to enjoy, including a bouncy castle, kids’ crafting activities and competitions, and live entertainment throughout the day. Refreshments, provided by local vendors, include hot street food, coffee and even a bar serving both cocktails and mocktails, so hopefully everyone is catered for.

After a tough couple of years for the hospitality and retail industry, Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet was granted a locality grant for Reddish, and decided to give back to the community by creating the free event at the same time as the popular Worker Bee Market in May, as well as coinciding with the start of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The event is tailored for the whole of the Reddish Community, including local businesses, local residents and charities. Many local charities are being given the opportunity to raise their profile and much-needed funds too, including Re:Dish, Stockport Canal Society, Makants Dog Rescue, Friends of Reddish South Station and Lee’s Sunshine Stall.

Stockport’s St Ann’s Hospice will also be playing a part too with a stand and charity raffle, with amazing prizes that have been kindly donated in aid of this charity who Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet are currently supporting.

Locals and visitors from further afield alike are encouraged to take advantage of fun activities for families, alongside the 40-60 local makers who will showcase affordable, handmade crafts, gifts, jewellery, pampering ideas, homeware and garden wares.

“It’s been great for us to be able to get involved within the local community, especially arranging an event like this for the people and businesses of Reddish. We hope to see lots of local support on the day!” said Claire Vincent, Marketing Manager.

Also on offer will be a tempting selection of cakes, ice cream, cheese, jams, chutneys, freshly baked pies, sausage rolls and so much more. The newly appointed Mayor of Stockport, David Wilson, will be there to welcome visitors to the events and to meet the makers. Stockport Spiderman and some of his superhero pals may also be making an appearance, so children can try to catch sight of him throughout the day.

The event is free to attend, and everybody is encouraged to come down to Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet and enjoy what promises to be a day celebrating

Reddish, Stockport and the North-West region.

The Family Fun Day & Reddish Worker Bee Market is taking place on Saturday, May 28, 11am-3pm, at Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet, Broadstone Road, Reddish SK5 7DL. Admission is completely free.
