Big names sign up for Comrie Conversation
A stellar line-up of guests will discuss aspects of the looming EU referendum at a special event in Comrie next week.
Journalist Kevin McKenna, author and political commentator David Torrance and academic and activist Lesley Orr will take part in the latest Comrie Conversation – to be held on Friday, June 10, from 7.30pm in the village’s White Church.
As always, the discussion will be free of party politics and, rather than concentrating on the ‘in or out’question, the evening will look at what the decision means for the future of Scotland.
Kevin writes regularly for the Observer, Guardian and Scottish Daily Mail.
He has been in the newspaper industry for over 25 years and held top positions at five of the country’s most prestigious titles.
David, meanwhile, has just published a‘Guide for Voters’to the EU Referendum, and is a regular on the screens of evening political TV.
Fellow speaker Lesley is an historian, author and activist. She is on the boards of Zero Tolerance and the progressive think tank Common Weal. She also is an associate director of the Edinburgh Centre for Theology and public issues.
The chaired discussion will be followed by the usual open conversation involving the audience and the speakers.
Comrie Conversations was started in 2013 to give people a chance to discuss issues of importance to the future of Scotland prior to the independence referendum.
There will be the usual relaxed atmosphere, aided by the White Church bar. All welcome.
