Muthill Gala is on schedule for a great village gathering
Muthill residents are looking forward to their annual Gala, with organisers announcing a jam packed schedule of events for 2016.
There’s an earlier than usual slot for the Bingo Night, which takes place in the Village Hall at 7.30pm this Thursday to avoid clashing with the EU Referendum.
On Saturday, a Kids Walking Treasure Hunt will begin at the Village Hall from 10.30am and on Sunday the traditional service in the Old Churchyard takes place at 3pm. If it’s wet, the service will move inside to the Parish Church.
On Monday, June 20, bowlers will take to the bowling green for some hotly contested competition at 6.45pm and there is also competition on the courts of the Village Hall with the junior badminton at 7pm. Senior badminton is the following evening.
This year’s scarecrow competition has no theme and is being left to the imagination but there will be help from Remake at ‘Come and Make a Scarecrow’in the Village Hall (Tuesday, at 7pm).
Scarecrows will be judged on the morning of Saturday, June 25, and must be displayed by 9am.
Wednesday, June 22, sees the popular Pudding Night takes place in the Village Hall at 7.15pm. Entry is £2 and there will be a Kids Bake Off. Cakes or sweets should be brought to the hall for judging and the choirs will entertain.
The Car Treasure Hunt sets off from the Village Hall at 6.30pm on Friday, June 24, at a cost of £5 per car.
And a Craft Morning will be held in the Village Hall from 10.30am-2.30pm on Saturday, June 25. Entry £2.
The main event is on Sunday, June 26, when residents are invited to Gala Day in Coronation Park.
The fancy dress parade departs from Pitkellony Street at 1pm to be led by Comrie Pipe Band through the village.
All the usual attractions will be found in the park including a tombola, strawberries, cake and candy, pony rides, a bouncy assault course, vintage bikes, 50/50, raffle and a guest appearance from Wish Upon a Star.
