Play equipment booster
The Friends of MacRosty Park have received a cheque from Crieff Round Table towards some special new play equipment.
Tablers George Whyte, Mike Melville and Jamie Russell presented group members Isabel Simpson, Roy MacDonald and Sandra Lowe with a cheque for £500 to kickstart the Friends’ fundraising campaign to bring some all-ability play equipment to the town’s flagship greenspace.
Sandra said that the hope is the new apparatus would be in place by summer 2017. She told the Herald:“Perth and Kinross Council has approved our project and we are now at a fundraising stage.
“We have designs in mind for four pieces of all-ability equipment. However, the decision has not yet been finalised.
“What we are looking at is a basket and a nest swing – which gives full support to children unable to sit upright themselves and allows a number of children to play on them at once – as well as a longer trampoline which wheelchair users are able to access, along with a low level roundabout suitable for everyone as it has a bench, standing room and enough room for wheelchairs too.
“Our final piece of equipment is a playhouse complete with sensory panels. We feel this project will enhance the equipment already in the park nicely.”
She added:“Final figures have not been arrived at yet but with the purchase, installation and a 10-year maintenance plan to put in place we are estimating the project to be around £50,000.
