Thanks to our army of volunteers
Dear Editor, On June 17-19 more than 1,000 people gathered at Comrie Croft to enjoy a funfilled weekend of mountain biking action, activities, food, drink and music.
None of it would have been possible without the amazing voluntary effort and contributions of a great many local people and businesses. So if I may, I’d like to publicly thank them here.
The small army of volunteers from Strathearn Mountain Biking Club and beyond who marshalled races, stewarded car parking, put up bunting and just jumped in to help when a job needed doing; local sponsors Gordon and Durward and The Famous Grouse Experience; Jeremy, Anita, Tristan and Alick Spurway for creating and running the 60 metre waterslide; Remake for putting on cool crafty sessions making bike buckets and printing using bike wheels and chains; Ian McFarlane at Do It Outdoors for putting on low-level tightrope walking (or slack-line); The team at Action Glen for their Segway and Quad-Pod sessions; The Bulletholes, Neil Thomson and Sandy Black, and Huw Thomas for their musical contributions; Comrie Cinema Club; Ewan Stewart and Sons; J A Burdon-Cooper; A B Gairns; and last but not least Auchingarrich Wildlife Park for their petting zoo. For those whom we have missed out, our sincere apologies – your contribution is no less valued.
We’d also like to thank the wonderful teams we have at Comrie Croft, Hansen’s Kitchen and Muckmedden Events for all the extra effort they put in before, during and after the festival. You guys are amazing!
