T IN THE PARK

- Staff Reporter

Revellers flocking to Strathallan Castle Estate for next week’s T in the Park music festival have been urged to be as clued-up as possible ahead of the event.

Top acts such as ‘Madchester’ legends the Stone Roses, Scots DJ Calvin Harris and Californian rockers the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are among a stellar line-up set to entertain from July 8-10 on the revamped site near Auchterarder.

And, ahead of the extravaganza, organisers re-iterated several well-worn mantras to ensure the event is memorable for the right reasons.

Bus firm Citylink is providing a shuttle bus service from Auchterarder, Aberuthven, Gleneagles Station, Crieff, Muthill, Braco, Greenloaning and Blackford. Tickets can be booked and purchased in advance from www.citylink.co.uk.

A spokesperson for organisers DF Concerts urged festival- goers to check advice on www. trafficscotland. org/ tinthepark and stressed there will be no walking routes to and from the festival site.

Items prohibited from the festival site include glass, flag poles, selfie sticks, nitrous oxide aka ‘ laughing gas’, laser pens, air horns, multi-tools or flares. Fires, barbecues and cooking stoves are banned, but disposable barbecues can be used at designated spots.

Police Scotland has said that, as with any event, searches will be carried out in a bid to clamp down on any illegal substances making it into either the arena or campsite and also fired a warning over previously so-called ‘legal highs’, which are now prohibited following a change in the law.

This year, the bars and merchandise stalls will accept chip and pin, contactless and Apple Pay, plus there are ATMs on site.

The event spokesperson said: “The best
