- Johnathon Menzies

The opening performance of Crieff Drama Group’s new season takes place at the town’s Red Squirrel Cafe on October 14.

The staged reading, titled ‘ Lurve Actually’, will take place during the annual Crieff and Strathearn Drovers’ Tryst walking festival.

The production is described as “a comic look at wooing, weddings and ‘ wo- men’”, according to a representative for the group.

Tickets, priced at £5, can be bought at the Red Squirrel Cafe or on the Drovers’ Tryst website, www.droverstryst. com.

The following week, from October 20-22, Morrison’s Academy Hall will be the venue for Crieff Drama’s popular supper theatre.

A two- course meal will be complemented by short comedies, each connected by the emotionally-charged topic of relationships.

The sketches, which precede the meal, begin with curtain- raiser ‘ The Bachelor’s Soliloquy’, followed by ‘ Yesterday’ by Colin Campbell Clements and ‘Countdown’ by Alan Ayckbourn.

After supper, the one act ‘ Alternat i v e Accommodation’ by Pam Valentine will be performed – described as a “comedic eavesdrop on how one family’s decision- making does or doesn’t work.”

Curtain up will be at 7.30pm.

Doors and wine bar open at 7pm.

Anyone heading along will be asked to pre-order menu choices when purchasing tickets.

The culinary options will be announced shortly.
