Running for a good cause
superb. Kerry Sweeney and her hugely capable team of marshals, time keepers, caterers and helpers did a great job and everything ran just like clockwork.
“We had a great day’s racing, with all of our teams doing themselves and Strathearn Harriers proud.
“A few standout performances are worthy of mention: Will Manners on leg three running the second fastest time of the day and overtaking three teams to put our Men’s‘A’team into an unassailable second position overall; Iain Thomson and Rachel Gallagher running a superb second leg for the Harriers’ Mixed Team and Dawn Gleeson running a strong leg four – also for the Mixed Team.”
Other notable runs came from Liberal Democrat MSP Willie Rennie, running the tough third leg for Carnegie Harriers’‘B’ team in a fine time of 1.19.42.
Meanwhile 80-year-old Norman Smith, of Kinross Road Runners, showed that age is no barrier to having a fine day out in the hills.
Prizes were presented on behalf of Simon’s widow, Shelagh, and the family by race organiser Kerry Sweeney.
The prize-giving was accompanied by the now-traditional barbecue.
Club captains Phil and Nicola continued:“The race could not happen without a horde of volunteers to act as marshals, time-keepers and caterers, and the club is very grateful to everyone for all their efforts.
“The club is also very appreciative of the support given to the event by the local landowners and residents, and to the Famous Grouse for its support in providing prizes.”
