willing to walk so far and for raising so much money.

“They were all fantastic and we also raised a lot of money from collections from drivers at the Shell Garage on the A9 where two of my friends, Susan Campbell and Debby Cowper, work too.

“I’d like to do another fundraiser next year – maybe some kind of cycling event – which would also be for a cancer charity.”

Christine Steele, vicechair of the Auchterarder Macmillan Cancer Support fundraising group, was delighted with the money raised by Lissa and her friends.

She said: “It’s absolutely fantastic to receive a donation like this and it’s a huge amount of money for a group to raise.

“I’m very proud and pleased for Lissa who is the driving force behind this group and wanted to raise funds for a charity which is very dear to heart.”

Lissa’s fundraising page remains open.

Anyone who still wants to donate can do so at www. justgiving.com/Tale-Blazers

All donations received make a real difference to the charity, with £ 10 helping to stock a Macmillan Information and Support Centre while £25 could pay for a Macmillan nurse’s skills for an hour.

More information about the charity can be found on the website at www.macmillan. org.uk

It was such an epic and traumatic year . . .
