RCS principal Professor Jeffrey Sharkey said: “Scotland’s national conservatoire is one of the best in the world, ranking alongside the great performing arts institutions of Europe, the US and the Far East.
“What better partners could we hope for than one of the great global brands who, like us, are proud to be world-class, Scottish and welcoming to the world?
“It’s of great credit to the Gleneagles team that they share our passion and see the importance of investing in young people and the arts in Scotland.”
He added: “We’re excited at the potential this partnership has for our students and we look forward very much to the opportunities for the next generation of exceptional artists that we will create and deliver together.”
The Gleneagles and RCS partnership will come to life later this month with the announcement of the first recipient of the inaugural Gleneagles Scholarship.
The scholarship has been designed to provide financial support to an exceptional young Scottish musician – enabling him or her to study at master’s level at the prestigious institution.
Throughout the year, the partnership will provide performance opportunities for students studying across the wide range of performing arts disciplines taught at RCS – ranked sixth in the world for its educational experience.
The first of these will be the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Gleneagles Gala Dinner, taking place in the hotel on Saturday, November 5.
The event will be a celebratory showcase of the special partnership between the two institutions and the world-class work of RCS students.
The inaugural gala is expected to feature a chamber orchestra, a series of opera and music performances plus a spectacular after- dinner performance programme.
Another key event, the Gleneagles Gala Concert featuring the acclaimed Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Symphony Orchestra, will take place in Grand Hall, City Halls – home of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra – in Spring .
