Adventure time as youngsters enjoy residential weekend

-

Young people from Comrie Parish Church’s youth drop-in group enjoyed canyoning and salsa dancing at a residential weekend.

The initiative, held at the Craggan Centre on Loch Tay, was in partnership with Perth and District YMCA joining together church youth work projects from across the area.

Twenty young people from Comrie, Aberfeldy and Perth attended the weekend where they took part in canyoning, a Mexican-themed evening with salsa dancing and the launch of the Youth Alpha course – an optional opportunity for young people to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed and informal way.

During the residential weekend, the young people had to plan their own breakfast, lunch and evening meal menus and give each other roles and responsibilities for the various tasks required.

They learned budgeting skills, cooked and cleaned for themselves.

Franny McGrath, who works alongside the youths in Comrie, said:“This was a fantastic, positive, weekend and the young people from the local area are so talented and keen for new experiences.

“As a church, we really value these young people and are keen to develop their skills so they can have a positive impact on their local community.

“I would also like to thank the Gannochy Trust, the Church of Scotland’s‘Go for It’ Fund and local donors for contributing funding to allow these types of opportunities to happen.”
