Crieff ’s new community councillors were introduced on Monday.

Gillian Taylor, Perth and Kinross Council’s head of democratic services, and community council liaison officer Christine Grant oversaw the extraordinary general meeting to formally constitute the new volunteers at Strathearn Community Campus.

Craig Finlay, who first joined the community council three years ago, was duly elected as chair.

Susanna Murdoch took over the reins as vice-chair, Christine Steinka secretary and Gillian Kidd treasurer. Gerard McIvor, Michael Steinka and Michele D’Auvergne make up the rest of the team.

The new recruits introduced themselves, with all agreeing a common goal of helping to make Crieff a better place to live.

Mr Finlay thanked them for nominating him for the role of chair. He said: “Having been an active community councillor for nearly three years, I’m sure I’ll be able to guide us through all the issues that are put before us.

“I know that all of you have a strong desire to make Crieff a better place to live and bring up your children, and with that as our main aim we can begin that work now.”

And Mr Finlay stated that the main priority for Crieff Community Council this session would be the safety issues at Broich Road.

He added: “With a new agenda, I’ll be hoping to put safety on Broich Road firmly at the top, and not allow anything to distract from that goal.”
