Locals wanted to manage Steinmeyer legacy
Comrie Development Trust is inviting interested locals to become members of The Steinmeyer Legacy Group – which will oversee the running of the substantial bequest left to the elderly of the village by former Cultybraggan Camp PoW Heinrich Steinmeyer.
The Legacy Group’s duties will include arranging village consultation about how the fund is utilised, making decisions about the fund’s use and managing how it is spent.
The first group meeting is planned for January 22.
Membership of the Steinmeyer Legacy Group is open to older people, representatives from community groups or Comrie residents of any age with relevant experience.
Anyone wishing to be involved should contact CDT by January 9 on 01764 670769, cdt@ comriedevelopmenttrust.org.uk or in writing to CDT, Hut 3, Cultybraggan Camp, Comrie, Perthshire, PH6 2AB.
A spokesperson for CDT stressed that the fund is ringfenced solely for use in line with Mr Steinmeyer’s wishes. It is in a separate bank account and is purely to benefit older people in the village. It has nothing to do with the proposed self-catering development at the camp.
He said: “The funds are reserved for use on developments to benefit older people in Comrie and its surrounding area, and local people are already coming forward to join the Steinmeyer Legacy Group.
“It will arrange to consult with older people and community groups and then oversee the expenditure on whatever projects and services emerge from this consultative process.
“The legacy is held in its own bank account, and none of the legacy funds are available or will be used in the self-catering development.”
We are delighted to be able to help bring them back to life...in a way that is relevant to today
